
Shawarma is one of the most popular street foods especially in Egypt. It is also equally cherished all around the world. Shawarma has a chicken or meat filling with Pita bread wrapped around it. It is adored for its sauces and its fillings. Shawarma can also be consumed with French fries which makes the dish more delicious and as its Ramadan, this would be the best dish for Ifthar.
Ingredients:
(For the chicken filling)


Chicken Breast 4
Coriander Powder 1/2tsp
Ginger garlic paste 2tsp
Cardamom powder 1/2tsp
Chilli Powder 1tsp
Salt
Lemon juice
Pepper powder
Oil 4tbsp
Curd 1cup
Cinnamon Powder or Garam Masala 1/2tsp
(For the pita bread)

Flour 400g
Salt 1tsp
Sugar 1tbsp
Yeast 1/2tsp
Baking powder 1/2tsp
Water
Oil 2tbsp
Method:
(For the chicken filling)
1. Add salt, pepper, lemon juice to the chicken breasts and mix them.
2. In another bowl, add curd, oil, cinnamon powder, cardamom powder, chilli powder, ginger garlic paste, coriander powder and mix them.
3. Pour the curd mixture to the chicken and keep the marinated chicken in the refrigerator for 4 or 6 hours.
4. After 4 or 6 hours, pour oil to a heated pan and put the marinated chicken in it.
5. After it turns golden brown, cut them into pieces.
(For the pita bread)
1. In a small bowl pour water and add yeast, sugar, baking powder and mix them.
2. After the yeast is dissolved, close the bowl and leave the yeast to rise for 10mins.
3. Now, in another bowl add flour, salt, oil, risen yeast and knead it well for 10mins.
4. Then, cut the dough into 10 pieces and make 10 balls out of it.
5. After making the balls, cover them for 6-7 hours for the dough to turn double in size.

6. When the balls are double in size, roll the dough from the rolling pin into the shape of a circle.


7. Now, add few drops of oil to a heated pan and place the rolled dough on it.
8. When it turns golden brown, take it away from the pan and stuff it with the cut pieces of chicken, onion, tomato, cucumber (all mixed with salt and pepper), lettuce and mayonnaise.


9. Roll the pita bread, serve and Enjoy!!
