Seven Novels Every Young Adults must have in their reading list

From every genre in the bookish world, YA is one of the well known genre which is highly cherished among the reviewers and mainly readers. The books which are written for the age group of twelve to eighteen is referred as YA/Young Adult novels. And, as there are very interesting novels to read in this genre, Bookish Refreshment has picked seven out of them which we think is a must to be read. If we have failed to include some books which you think should be included in the list, please mention them in the comments below.

1. The Harry Potter Series

While mentioning YA novels, the first thing which pops up in every reader’s mind is the Harry Potter Fantasy series by J. K. Rowling. It’s first book was published in 2007 and the whole series is the favourite among every children and Adults. Though it is a YA novel, every aged readers enjoy this book. Harry Potter, Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley along with the other characters have captured the heart of every readers with their magical abilities that the book would be cherished for many years to come.

2. The fault in our stars

The Award winning author John Green’s one of the most recommended novel is the fault in our stars. The book was published in 2012 by Dutton Books. The life of the seventeen year old Hazel Grace Lancaster who lives with the thyroid cancer which later affects her lungs would be worth reading. This was the fourth solo novel of John Green and sixth novel overall.

3. The Hunger Game Series

The Hunger Game series by Suzanne Collins is another novel which we highly recommend. The New York Times best seller was published in 2008 and has been turned into a film. The story is of a sixteen year old teen Katniss Everdeen who participates in Hunger Game to keep her sister away from the participation.

4. The Divergent

This YA novel, is of a girl called Tris and her struggle to find where she belong. This debut book of the author Veronica Roth is a science fiction and is highly adored among the readers. The Divergent was published in 2011 and has also been turned into a movie.

5. One of us is lying

This International bestseller, is another must read book which should be there in every young reader’s list. The thriller and mystery fiction is written by Karen M. McManus and was first published in 2007. The story is of the detention of five students, but only four students return alive. What happens to the fifth? Read the story to know it.

6. The Selection

This Young Adult fiction is the first in the series of the author Kiera Cass. The book was published in 2012 by Harper Collins. This story is of an American who leaves her childhood place and enters into a competition for a crown that she never wanted. This book is highly recommended among every reviewers and is another must read book for Young Adults.

7. Shatter Me

Shatter Me is a Young Adult thriller narrated by Juliette which has passages and lines that have crossed out like a diary entry. The seventeen year old girl, Juliette was in the mental asylum and later a prisoner after accidently killing someone. The novel was written by Tahereh Mafi and was published on 2011.

  1. I’ve read all of these except for the Shatter Me series! I need to read those, but the series is so long. XD I love the premise of it, so I’ll have to check them out!
