When they start mourning on their poverty their Mummy commence explaining them how grateful they should be of their life to which the children agree. Next day when the girls were eager on having their Christmas breakfast, Mrs. March enlightens the young girls about a poor family who lives by the street and willingly, the four girls sacrifices their breakfast to the poor family with a grateful mind. In return they were blessed with a feast by Mr. Lawrence the old gentleman who was their neighbor. Not being acquainted with the man, the girls gets curious about him and his grandson Laurie. On New Year’s Eve Meg and Jo set out for a party where Jo find the Laurie boy and they get on well. Their acquaintance deepen on the coming chapters and slowly approaching the age of youth the four sisters’ perspective on life changes.
